Summer 2016 News

Here is a little preview of my current work from this summer.

The 5th image and first tea bowl pictured won second place at this year's tea bowl/chawan competition at 1001 Pots in Val-David, Qc.

I am always grateful to have been invited to participate in this show from its earliest beginnings, it is always a joy to see the floods of people that enjoy it during our wonderful summer in the Quebec Laurentians. If you've never been I urge you to check it out next year, it always starts mid July through until mid August. 1001pots.com

  4. If there is one thing that all children have in common, it's the fact that they enjoy playing. Even if there are no toys available, they will fabricate their own toys out of raw materials that are located in their area. Of course, we live in a world that provides many different play options for children, some of which are better suited for their development. That is why many parents consider giving educational toys when compared to other toys that may be available on the market.http://www.careerpanth.xyz/

  7. Rakuyaki bowls are shaped on the wheel but shaped only by hand and paddle. This technique called “Tezukune”. It is shaped this way, and the bowls surface is deliberately planed. And then, biscuit firing and glazing are done, and the pottery vessel is fired in a short time at the temperature from 800℃ to 1200℃ so that and warm texture can be porduced. In order to make this process possible, fine power of chamotte brick is added to the clay before it is kneaded. A lot of air bubbles in the clay, which makes the pottery porous. The porous pottery can endure expansion and contraction caused by rapid change of temperature through firing and cooling. Rakuyaki is produced by these processes. www.damdaar.com
